Sandyford Church Creation Care Group
Eco-Congregation Scotland is faith-based movement supporting congregations and individuals to care for Creation through worship, practical action, and advocacy. We offer resources, eco-chaplaincy support, spaces to learn and share together, and an award scheme celebrating environmental commitment. Since 2001 we have supported congregations across the country and contributed a Christian voice within the climate movement in Scotland and internationally.

Sandyford Church Activities and actions:
Sandyford has regular Litter Picks around the Church with volunteers from the church helping to remove the litter from the area of the church.
The Church of Scotland is concerned that environmental issues pose real threats to people everywhere, particularly to the poor..
As followers of Christ, we believe it is our responsibility to protect, as far as we can, God’s wonderful creation. Our world faces many challenges as a direct result of human actions.

Sandyford Creation Care Group seeks to play our part in 3 ways:
we pray, engage, act
Pray: we pray as a group, submit a prayer point each week to the Sandyford Prayer News, pray with other Christian organisations who focus on creation care (eg Tearfund, Climate Intercessors, A Rocha)
Engage: through presentations and informal conversations within the congregation, with the Sunday School, with other likeminded churches including through joining Eco Congregation Scotland.
Act: Work with professionals to find ways for our church to reduce our carbon footprint and improve efficiency of our use of resources. We hold a monthly litter pick around the area of the church and in the wider parish.
