  • Review old verses
    • Each day go back through what you’ve already learned
  • Repetition over time
    • Don’t just try to fit this into 5 minutes in the morning. Better 1 minute 5 times across the day
  • Include the verse numbers
    • It feels a bit odd but it will aid your memory if you
      include them

For example:

One-One: Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all God’s holy
people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and
deacons

One-Two: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord
Jesus Christ

One-Three: etc

  • Work visually
    • Look a the verse and “take a photo” with your eyes
    • Recite 10 ten times, gradually covering up words
  • Work audibly
    • Recite it out loud, even quietly under your breath so that only you can hear it
    • Say it with feeling! An expressive reading will help you get the
meaning as well as just the words. And you might find rhythm and rhymes that help too

Start by repeating yesterday’s verse.

Then go through all the previous verses – either the current chapter or the whole book.

Then learn today’s verse – recite 10 times from the book, gradually covering up the words.

Repeat today’s verse – and other verses – as you go about the day. Check in the book if you aren’t sure of a word or phrase.
