Matthew Ch 10 vv 1-15

Their task was daunting – heal, resurrect and win the battle over evil. Food and clothes were secondary and the responsibility under God of those whom He had prospered. Imagine the response today if a travelling preacher arrived at the provost’s or the mayor’s door expecting board and lodging! Of course we realise that theirs was a different society with different conventions about hospitality, but the principle is the same and when we meet those whom God has sent out to do His work in various ways, both at home and overseas, we need to ask what we should be doing to support them.

Judgement is not a popular concept and we try to forget about it, but it is a truth which is taught throughout Scripture. Without the saving work of Christ we would be totally lost. As it is we must remember that we are not told that there is no judgement for those in Christ Jesus but that there is no condemnation ( Romans Ch 8 v 1).

The men Jesus sent out included Judas Iscariot. He spent three years shadowing Jesus and yet at the end he still betrayed Him. Whatever our work for our Lord may be let’s pray for each other that we may be kept faithful to Him.
