Mark Ch 16 vv 1-8

They had no idea that Jesus could be risen from the dead and they were understandably frightened. God knew how they would react and in His kindness sent them an angel to reassure them. Our God knows our temperaments and weaknesses and always deals gently with us if we will only listen to His voice. Of course the women were alarmed. Who wouldn't be, given the same situation?

The young man knew what had happened in the past ("He was crucified"), he could explain the present (“He has risen") and he gave them directions for the future (“Go, tell His disciples"). Similarly we can trust our past, present and future to God. They were rewarded for their willingness to undertake the sad and difficult task of laying Jesus out by being the first witnesses to the Resurrection.

They said nothing because they were afraid. They had the one piece of news that was going to make all the difference to the history of the world - and they were afraid to tell anyone at first. Pray today for the courage to share what you know to be the truth.
