Jeremiah Ch 44 vv 24-30

We see yet again the Lord leaving open a door of escape for those who return to Judah, while recognising that very few will do so. He is infinitely patient, but there will come a time when it will be too late to repent, so we ought to pray earnestly for ungodly people we know and love.

God’s purposes are inextricably bound up with history and what He prophesied about Pharaoh Hophra actually took place. It shows us how reliable the Bible is, whatever critics of it may say. As God’s Word to mankind we shouldn’t expect it to be otherwise. It isn’t all history. However, the history we do find in the Bible is written not from the human angle but shows us how the Lord looks at the affairs of men.
